FITNESS FACTS
Muscle burns more calories than aerobic activity:
Every pound of muscle that you add to your body burns approximately 75 additional calories per day, even on the days you don’t workout. Adding just four pounds of muscle to your body will burn more calories per week that jogging for 30 minutes four times per week (2100 vs. 1700 calories per week.)
Strength Training is the most important component of a fat loss regiment:
Strength training is the only activity that promotes discriminate weight loss (the exclusive loss of fat while simultaneously preserving and/or enhancing lean tissue.) Dieting without strength training results in a loss of muscle tissue. Aerobic activity is not sufficient to prevent the undesirable loss. In fact, excess “aerobics? May further decrease fat loss results by increasing muscle wasting.
